Heal your home with powerful changes
Our home can be our greatest ally, a shell to recharge, giving us all the strength to achieve our full potential and dreams. Although, sometimes it just feels as if it was the opposite. Looking for answers, many of us have turned our interest toward ancient guidance systems such as feng shui. Often view as a holistic way to increase our prosperity and well being, by creating spaces that truly are in balance with all forces of the universe, which is believed to liberate our inner-self. Sounds dreamy, isn’t it? But sometimes, decoration science is not enough. There are others invisible sources of blockages that need to be addressed in order to change positively our lives.
The power of the subconscious mind is remarkable and shouldn’t be underestimated. While being a powerful guidance system, it can be sometimes the source of negative emotions that is holding us back. This is why as much as we desire to believe in the mystical powers of feng shui to empower our home and therefore ourselves, it is important to begin first by looking into possible inner subconscious messages.
“Life can be defined by moments and memories, and objects can give rise to a flood of tears or remorse or joy or love, more often, welled-up memories streaming into one’s conscience” – Claud Cecil Gurney
It is no secret to anymore that many of our struggles as much as our joyous moments in life come from our childhood memories. As strange as it might sound, our homes have an enormous impact on our state of mind. They can make us feel like we are plunge into depths of despair or they can be uplifting heaven of beauty and rejuvenation and one of the reasons is that our memories are tied to places, objects and décor that once formed part of our day-to-day life, which is in most cases our homes. No matter if our present home appears completely different than our former ones, unconsciously there will be compelling symbolic representations of our past, hidden into any abode we will be living in. Swiss psychoanalyst, Carl Jung, former associate of Sigmund Freud, suggests in his theories that we project something of ourselves onto our house. Basically, on a less conscious level, we see our home as our basic protector of the external environment just as our skin protects our organs, we care for it as much as we disguise it. The way we install, the way we arrange it, the pictures we hang, the elements we display, the plants we buy, all are expressions of deeper meanings, all are messages about ourselves.
So, just like a personal clued-in game, the first thing to do is to identify the source of our inner blockage by looking into our home arrangement, using our intuition.
All objects, combined with where and how they are placed in our homes, together create a resonant tapestry of memories and associations, a unique signature of energies that whispered of past time. And no matter how many well-established decorative systems such as feng shui we follow, there is time when intuition will work better. Decoration is not exactly a perfect science giving formulas and truth. Sometimes, it occurs that the answers of our deepest questions are held inside the subconscious mind.
Denise Linn, international renowned soul coaching, author of award-winning Feng Shui for the Soul, expressed in her book that the greatest feng shui result occurs when her clients actively involved themselves in the process. That is by intentionally activating their intuition, there were given guidance and valuable information to heal their home.
Intuition is a simple skill that everyone possesses. As Buddhists like to describe it, it is an activity of beginner’s mind because it is a state that exists beyond academic and belief systems. It is a divine state, which guide us towards the answer, a gift from life. Of course, many people dismiss this skill as “voodoo” but deep down, we all are intuitive, some people more than others. The good news is, just like any skills, it can be developed with discipline and really make a difference into our life.
Laura Day, intuitive healer and teacher, explains that intuition is answering our subconscious questions all the time and therefore, the best way to start reading and using this information is to set first the right mindset, an intention. What do we want to know? What are we after precisely? By setting a clear target, we will be ready to receive and notice all kind of information. The goal here is not to focus or look inside our belief bag, this will just narrow our field. The idea is to observe and feel what is reaching us; it can be anything, thoughts, people, news and then document this information. The magical thing about intuition is in a click something will push us to take action.
“I believe that a beautiful interior with lovely memories and evocative objects helps us to remain on an even keel” – Claud Cecil Gurney
Every object in our home can increase or decrease our energy level. For example, seashells brought on holiday uplift our energy as our subconscious associates them with happy memories or a second-hand sofa given to us by the family, which we dislike, may unconsciously draw your energy down and be a source of inner blockage. Using our intuition walking into our home to identify the hidden message is a holistic way to unmask what is good and no good for us in our home.
One feng shui mantra that can be used in this case is “if it feels good, it’s good feng shui”.
This is the fastest way to completely transform how we feel at home. Abundance levels increase, relationships improve, and even our mental health feels better. While holding on to un-useful and negative possessions impedes the flow energy in our sanctuary, clearing the space can be a game changer. It represents and feels just like a symbolic act of releasing everything we don’t want in our life.
Oh yes, it can be hard to say goodbye to our possessions and even harder for those who never throw anything away, a painful habit to overcome. The truth about declutter is at the end of the day, we will not be left with three socks and a fork. All it requires is a good intention to join a spiritual experience. If we love it or use it, then it’s not clutter as long it’s not left to dust without purpose. Also, an item might be clutter in one part of the house but might not be in another part. It is up to us to feel and decide. And again, the best part about clearing and reorganizing our space is, this very nice feeling of accomplishment, feeling in control, gaining clarity of thoughts and even solving problems.
So “use it, love it or get rid of it”.
Wishing you to feel superb Xx
